January 2016 Wrap up!

Sunday, January 31, 2016

Guys, weren't we literally just celebrating the New Year and posting our resolutions?! ell We are down the first month of 2016 and tomorrow we wil begin February. CRAZY! Let's see. This month hasn't been much fun. I've been sick, my son has been sick, and my husband has been sick. Hopefully, we got our 2016 sickness out of the way and will be fine the rest of the yer... right? I've also been a bit bookoutlet crazy... Like way crazy. I may or may not have spent close to $200 on that website since Christmas alone... I'm not saying. I have gotten quite a bit done this month though, and I'm still here!! I tend to blog religiously for like a week or 2 then drop off the face of the planet for several months to years. I'm counting the fact that I've stuck around a whole month as a big win!

So, without further ado...

What I read in January

Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) 18798983 Eleanor & Park The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1) 25317360 Firsts 18692431 25349802 Passenger (Passenger, #1) 25828204 15749186 20698530 Truthwitch (The Witchlands, #1) 7896345

Red Queen (4/5 stars) The Wrath and the Dawn (5/5 stars) Eleanor & Park (3/5 stars) The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (5/5 stars) My Kind of Wonderful (5/5 stars) Firsts(1/5 stars) Everything Everything (4/5 stars) Until November (3/5 stars) Passenger (5/5 stars) F*ck Love (2.5/5 stars) To All the Boys I've Loved Before (5/5 Stars) P.S. I Still Love You (4/5 stars) Truthwitch (5/5 stars) The Gathering (4/5 stars)

14 books. Not too shabby if I may say so myself. I had a lot of off time at work though, so I don't expect to get that much read next month... I can dream, but I doubt it'll happen. I'm a pretty positive rater... I think on average I rate twice as many books with 4 and 5 stars than 3 and below. So, I'm actually surprised at how many lower rated books I have this month. I wouldn't say it was a bad reading month, but I definitely struck out with a few of these. I love giving 5 stars... Book Critique I am not.... I just generally love them and love talking about them.

Favorite Read
Truthwitch (The Witchlands, #1)I loved this book. I just finished it last night and I'm at a loss for words. It was just Fantastic. I wish I had the sequel now. Why did I read it so quickly?! It was so wonderful, but now I'm dying to know more. I also want to give an honorable mention to The Wrath and the Dawn it was beautiful. I almost chose it, but then I just had to go with Truthwitch.

Worst Read
FirstsThis is not even a little bit of a surprise if you read my review. I couldn't even finish this one. It still makes me sad to think about.

Most Surprising
25349802This is sadly not in a good way. I haven't gotten my review up yet, so I'll try not to say too much. But, I expected to love this book. I've heard such wonderful things about this author and how her books are great... but it just read like a fanfiction too me. I felt like she was trying too hard. More about this one in my review soon.

On My Blog in Januray
I'm a bit behind in my reviews, but that's okay. I like to let books digest for awhile first. I've found myself changing my ratings several times after a few days of thinking on it. Here are the reviews I did write this month.

The Wrath and the Dawn
Red Queen
Eleanor & Park
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
My Kind of Wonderful
Firsts
Everything Everything
F*ck Love

What I'm Looking Forward to in February
Glass Sword (Red Queen, #2) The Forbidden Wish Unhooked

I narrowed this down. I have 14 books being released next month that I'm keeping an eye on. These 3 are getting really good prerelease reviews. I have Glass Sword preordered though. I'm so excited to read what will happen next in Mare's story. The other 2 I'm just so excited about. I'll probably end up getting them both before March. In fact, I'm thinking about ordering Unhooked next week sometime.

Well, there you have it. I think a great bookish start to 2016! What did you read this month?

    1. Yes! The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was a reread for me. I loved it still though. I haven't read the rest of the series. I might try to get to them next month.

  2. OMG I want to comment on ALL of these books! I loved The Wrath and the Dawn, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, Passenger, To All the Boys, P.S. I Still Love You, and Truthwitch. And I loved The Forbidden Wish and Unhooked so much! Currently reading Glass Sword, it's not grabbing me like Red Queen did, but I'm liking it! Only 200 pages to go, LOL.

Anyway. I hope you have a lovely February month in reading and life and everything! :)

    1. Oh, I'm hoping Glass Sword gets better!! I've heard that it isn't as good from a few people now. It's making me nervous.
